Some events are a natural fit from the moment you walk in. The LHRIC TLI Tech Expo 2026 was one of them.
On May 7, 2026, Milestone brought our AI Sketch Robots to Windrose on Hudson in Ossining, New York for the TLI Tech Expo, the capstone event of the Lower Hudson Regional Information Center’s Technology Leadership Institute. The two-day expo, themed “Innovation University: Leading with Joy, Learning with Purpose,” brought together educators and technology leaders from across the region for keynote speakers, 60-plus learning sessions, and a vibrant vendor floor.
We were there for four hours on day one. Those four hours delivered.
The Event
The TLI Tech Expo is not a typical conference vendor experience. The people walking that floor are educators and instructional technology leaders. They think critically. They evaluate quickly. They have seen every tech demo under the sun.
That is exactly why the AI Sketch Robots worked so well here.
The expo ran across two full days with a packed program of sessions, keynotes, and partner showcases. Attendees moved between learning sessions and the vendor floor, and when they landed at the Milestone activation, most of them had never seen anything like it. A robot, drawing their portrait, in real time, in a style they chose. At a tech conference full of people who have seen it all, it stopped people in their tracks.
To pull people in from across the room, we set up a large display screen that cycled through completed animated sketches as they were created. Guests did not need to be standing at the activation to notice it. The screen did the work, turning heads and driving traffic before anyone even stepped up to the robots.
We also provided printed QR codes at the activation where guests could scan and upload a photo directly from their camera roll. No need to be physically present for a sketch. Guests used it to get sketches of their kids, their families, and their pets. It extended the experience beyond the room and gave people a reason to share it long after they left the floor.
The AI Sketch Robots
Put an AI Sketch Robot in front of a room full of educators and technology leaders, and something interesting happens. They do not just watch. They analyze. They ask questions. They get curious about how it works. And then they get in line to try it.
The AI Sketch Robots create custom, AI-generated portraits on demand. Guests step up, choose a style, and watch as the robot draws their sketch in real time. Once complete, they receive their animated sketch delivered directly via text.

What Happened on the Floor
The numbers tell part of the story. 140 sketches in four hours. But the moments on the floor tell the rest of it.
Milestone’s team was on-site for the activation. At one point, 17 different guests were so impressed by the experience that they stopped to take selfies with our team, with the activation running in the background. It turned out to be part of a scavenger hunt built into the expo, where attendees had to take a photo with their favorite vendor.
That is not something you can manufacture. That is an activation earning it.
Beyond the selfies, a crowd gathered and stayed. Guests who had already received their own sketches lingered for 30 minutes or more, watching the robots work. At an event built around innovation in education, the AI Sketch Robots were not just a fun experience. They were a conversation starter, a demonstration, and a talking point long after the activation ended.
